DESIGN FOR TRINDER HAIR
The beauty of commissioning a bespoke artwork for your company is that unlike a logo it can tell more of a story about your brand. When Trinder Hair moved to a new salon they wanted to create a beautiful space that said something about them. We worked together to create a concept that showed their style but also illustrated the impressive bank of skills they have developed over many years in the hair industry. On a series of hand-drawn salon style apothecary bottles we hand-lettered labels to pick out key points in their career that have formed the story of Trinder Hair. Adding this to a wallpaper, wall art and coasters has allowed their clients to learn about Trinder in a totally unique way and why they are the best at what they do.

DESIGN FOR BLACK HISTORY DEN
On series 5 of CBBC’s The Dengineers Emma was given the challenge to create ‘Black History Den’ for recipient Luke. What better way to celebrate all the incredible people than a bespoke wallpaper featuring their names? In the colours of the African nations, we hand illustrated names in a style that indicated the role they had played in Black History. For example, Mae Jemison (first black woman in space) had her name written in a NASA style font. Emma hoped that by surrounding Luke with inspiring names he’d be empowered to achieve great things. Each name had to be hand lettered and carefully considered which made this design the most challenging to date. The result was a bright and vibrant celebration of Black History and Luke was thrilled with his wallpaper which is the only one like it in the world.

DESIGN FOR CAMPER VAN
This design was the seed from which the idea of OWNIT and its potential grew. Founder of OWNIT Emma Kosh was having a camper van customised and wanted a fresh and fun design that screamed ‘holiday’ in a specific colour palette to match the upholstery of the van. Emma selected objects to illustrate and with these and fillers in the desired palette the design was born. This could then be used to laminate the table and be put onto cushions for use inside the van. Creating a one-off totally unique camper van for Emma and her family to enjoy.

DESIGN CHINCHILLA DEN
On series 5 of CBBC’s The Dengineers Emma was tasked with creating a Chinchilla Den. A place where Chinchilla’s and humans could exist in harmony. Emma created a concept where Chinchilla’s took on human behaviours such as relaxing in a deckchair to create a series of humorous characters for use around the den and as part of the wallpaper design. The final wallpaper combined the characters in their various poses with scenes from their natural habitat, the overall effect was a relaxed ski lodge vibe, perfect for the den.

DESIGN FOR MILLY
Combining all your favourite things into one design is what OWNIT does best. This design was curated to show a love of cats, reading and curious paraphernalia. The spine titles include favourite books that Milly had read as well as stories she had written herself. The cats were coloured to represent the family pets. The geometric shapes and old-fashioned flowers fill the design and give the impression of shelves on a beautiful wallpaper.

DESIGN FOR AMELIE
The recipient of Queen Victoria den, Amelie from series 4 of CBBC’s The Dengineers was so impressed with Emma’s design skills that she asked for her to redesign her bedroom. This design was the transition from little girl’s room to teenage hangout and the tone of the design was really important. Emma asked Amelie to list all of the things she loved along with curious things that made Amelie unique. On the list was rings, cats, bobble hats, history, reading, being kind, girl power and drinking lots of water. This resulted in cats wearing bobble hats and books with titles related to Amelie ‘Water is my fuel’ and ‘Queen Victoria – where girl power began’. All of the elements repeated inside a varsity style ‘A’ keeping the design clean and bold. Emma even managed to cameo on the paper as Author on a Girl Squad manual.

DESIGN FOR PHOENIX
How do you include a love of Tottenham Hotspur, super cars and starburst sweets into a design for a growing boy? That was the challenge set by Phoenix for the team at OWNIT. The result was a Spurs blue Lamborghini with a personalised number plate and starburst sweets blowing out of the exhaust pipe. The love of football was used to fill the design by using the spurs logo and a football motif. The overall result was a colourful explosion of everything Phoenix loves that had an 80’s retro vibe. Needless to say Phoenix was thrilled.

DESIGN FOR FUNFAIR DEN
The design for this wallpaper featured in Series 5 of CBBC’s The Dengineers and was a challenge because the brief was to illustrate a funfair at night, we had to create a design that looked as though it was glowing in the night sky. We also included the name Evie (the den recipient) in large funfair letters to make it super personal for her. The result was epic, although full disclosure Emma made an error when uploading the design to print which resulted in the paper having the incorrect repeat, these things happen when making TV and they had to their best to conceal this mistake and find a way to work around it involving strategically placed shelves! TV secrets revealed right here, and Emma will NEVER make that mistake again!

DESIGN FOR ROSA
This design is our most intricate to date – the level of detail that went into creating the final design was immense. Rosa wanted to have her initials but made up of small illustrations of things she loves. Each one had to be hand illustrated in the right shape to build the R and the K. The result is the most eclectic mix of things like a cup of tea with biscuits and aerial gymnastics nestled next to the family dog and Christmas string lights. A wholly bespoke set of initials on a design that has been rolled out onto everything from wallpaper to a suitcase. Rosa has her very own monogram!

DESIGN FOR RYLEY
This was a delightful design that we were thrilled to donate to a boy called Ryley. Ryley has a form of Cerebral Palsy and his parents were told he may never walk. After life changing surgery Ryley is determined to walk and we made this wallpaper to inspire him. As a massive superhero fan, we wanted to show Ryley beating some of his favourites in a running race. To walk is not a big enough dream for determined Ryley – we want to make him feel like a superhero. This paper adorns the walls in his dedicated physio room to spur him on to achieve his dreams.

DESIGN FOR TRANSMISSION
This design was formulated from buzz words that B2B marketing company Transmission told us was integral to their brand and ethos. We took these words and turned them into artwork that adorns the walls of their London offices. It is a clear and inspiring design that tells staff and visitors alike what this company is all about.

DESIGN FOR ADS Smart Homes
ADS Smart Homes wanted a design that literally put them on the map in St Albans. The company on the verge of opening their immersive Smart home showroom in the city needed a design for their office that represented their place amongst the most well regarded local companies. OWNIT took an existing popular map design by local illustrator Jen Roffe and with her help customised it to suit the needs of ADS. The result was a beautiful design that tells the world how proud ADS are to be a part of the St Albans community – and that they are here to stay!
